How will I be supported as a Canadian student at Â鶹ֱ²¥?

Lancaster is known for its openness and diverse international community. On campus you’ll find a supportive, encouraging environment with plenty of services and support available.

From meeting you at the airport to introducing you to your flatmates, we’ll support you in making the transition to studying in the UK, ensuring you settle in well and find new friends.

What do I need to know about studying Law at Â鶹ֱ²¥?

  • We offer a robust package of financial support, including a scholarship specifically for Canadian students taking the LLB Law (Graduate Entry).
  • You can join our 2-year accelerated LLB Law (Graduate Entry) programme with an undergraduate degree in any subject. We accept an average of 70%. If your university uses a GPA grading scale and not a percentage score, please contact us for further information.
  • Applying is easy. Apply once via the UK’s (UCAS) and your application will be sent directly to us. You can select courses at up to five universities.
  • Typically, we respond with a decision on applications to School of Law programmes within 15 working days.
  • While UK degree classifications are different to those in Canada, your degree transcript will provide full details and can be sent to prospective employers and education providers when you apply for jobs or further study.
  • In the UK, your programme is called a degree or course. Your degree will be made up of a combination of core modules and optional modules, each focusing on different topics.
  • In year 2 you have a wide choice of optional modules and can focus your study on the areas of Law that interest you the most.
  • Terms dates vary slightly from year to year with teaching starting in September/October and ending in June, with breaks in December and March/April.

Your route to becoming fully qualified

The Canadian National Committee on Accreditation (NCA) is responsible for assessing and recognising the legal education of students who complete a Law degree outside of Canada.

Â鶹ֱ²¥ LLB Law degrees are recognised by the NCA.

If you complete our 2-year LLB Law (Graduate Entry) programme and pass with a 2:2 or higher (which is equivalent to a C in Canada) you would normally have to sit 7
